Back in Action

The Mamas are back in action after the winter break, in fact so much back in action, that we haven't found time to update the blog. And did I say 'break'? Maybe that's the wrong word, maybe it gives the impression that we've been taking it easy, relaxing by the fireside with a good book and a cup of eggnog. This wasn't quite the way it happened....although I will post Taryn's patented eggnog recipe just incase we do ever get time to do this!
Johanna spent the winter commuting between Guéthary and Verbier for the ski season, before heading off to the beautiful wilderness Lofoten in arctic Norway for a bit of ski touring, hiking and - yes, even surfing in the icy water.( She probably could have done with a bit of eggnog after that.) Project Lofoten is a documentary film she's working on with Karolina Ekman, this was the first trip with a film to be made next spring - you can get a taste it on the their blog.

My winter was equally busy, but not quite so physical, in fact I have been superglued to my office chair finishing my first book. I practically became a recluse, and will never again say to someone at a dinner party "Oh you should write a book!". Surf Mama is an illustrated memoir, including .... obviously.... a lot about the Mamas Surf Club and how it changed my life. Next up is the book tour, including a trip to cornwall, where I'm hoping to catch a few waves as well as appearing at Port Eliot literary festival.
